Like Secretary Clinton, I too believe that women everywhere hold the key to thriving societies. As Miss Black Louisiana USA 2012, it is my responsibility to lead by example and show women of color that although they may face roadblocks, no one can prevent them from achieving their hopes and dreams.
I feel it is important to help women raise their expectations and leave a legacy for the next generation. Being a role model leaves positive reinforcement to girls and young women within the state of Louisiana. I want them to see and understand the positive impact pursuing educational endeavors, obtaining careers, and giving back to their communities may yield.
